Niagara Health closing Welland long-term care home after five decades

After more than 50 years of caring for Niagara seniors, the Welland long-term care home will close once all residents have safely moved to new homes.

Niagara Health will not renew the home’s licence when it expires in June 2026.

The home has been a place for generations of residents, families, and staff, but it no longer meets modern safety and accessibility standards.

Residents and families will be supported throughout the transition, and the home will remain fully staffed until the final move.

While Niagara Health will no longer operate a long-term care home, the site could be part of future redevelopment, and staff are being supported through the changes.
