Staff at the Niagara Falls Water Treatment Plant have received public recognition for their innovation.
The Ontario Public Works Association presented them with their annual Disaster or Emergency Construction/Repair Award for the new way they a managed a major water main leak at the reservoir in December.
Staff used high-strength materials to essentially build a pipe within the existing pipe, ensuring water could continue flowing during the process, and recuding the significant time, cost, and disruption by avoiding any major digging.
