Niagara Falls man charged in historical sexual assault case

Incidents happened over a ten year span

Niagara Regional Police have arrested and charged a Niagara Falls man in connection with a historical sexual assault investigation.

In early May, detectives launched an investigation after receiving reports of the repeated sexual abuse of a female under the age of 16. Police allege the offences took place between 2014 and 2024 and involved an adult male babysitter.

On May 21, 31-year-old Nygel Kovacs of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching.

The investigation is ongoing. Police believe there may be more victims as Kovacs has babysat other children in the past. They urge anyone with information to come forward.
