Niagara Falls cracks down on illegal short-term rentals

The City of Niagara Falls has cracked down on illegal vacation rentals during a March Break by-law blitz.

Officers investigated 47 suspected properties, bringing 25 into compliance, either by removing listings or obtaining proper licences.

The City also issued 37 fines totalling $37,000.

Officials say enforcement will continue, with daily $1,000 penalties possible for violations.

Vacation rentals are only allowed in approved zones and must be licensed, with residents encouraged to report concerns.
