Niagara College has once again been recognized by World Wildlife Fund Canada as one of the country’s top colleges for sustainability.
For the second year in a row, both the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses earned recognition through WWF Canada’s Living Planet @ Campus program.
The College was commended for its three-year project to remove invasive phragmites, which have spread across seven acres of wetlands.
The initiative has already restored 31,000 square metres of habitat, improving conditions for native species like turtles.
