Niagara cemetery using goats for eco-friendly lawn care

Willow’s Rest, Niagara’s first green burial section at Fairview Cemetery, is turning to goats for eco-friendly land care.

Partnering with local farmers Dave Harris and Kathy Warner of Kay-Dee Farms and Tee Creek Dog Training, the cemetery has introduced grazing goats to clear weeds and brush.

The approach reduces reliance on chemicals and machinery while supporting the sustainable principles of green burial.

Unlike traditional prescribed burns, goat grazing is a safe and effective alternative, removing invasive plants and reducing seed regrowth naturally.
