New tricycles in Welland to help with litter, light maintenance

The City of Welland has launched a 16-week pilot program aimed at enhancing cleanliness and curb appeal in the downtown core.

This week, two maintenance tricycles hit the streets as part of the initiative. Designed for daily litter pickup, weeding, and light maintenance, the program is part of the City’s focus on livability and creating a more welcoming and accessible public space.

Two seasonal workers hired through Job Gym Employment Services will operate them daily.

The Downtown BIA is overseeing day-to-day operations, while Job Gym provided safety training, including handling of needles and sharps.

Local businesses also have the opportunity to advertise on the tricycles, offering a potential funding stream to support the program long-term.
