New splash pad in Merritton unveiled

City-run pools open for the season June 27th

Merritton families have a new way to cool off this summer with the opening of an accessible splash pad at Secord Woods Park. Mayor Mat Siscoe, City Council, and members of the Recreation Master Plan Advisory Committee officially turned on the water Tuesday, June 10.

The splash pad, located at 120 Woodrow Street beside Applewood Public School, was shaped by public feedback and features water sprayers, shaded seating, washrooms, and hard-surface pathways, along with new tree plantings.

Part of St. Catharines' Recreation Master Plan, the addition complements the existing playground and green space, making Secord Woods Park a true all-ages destination. More landscaping and tree work will be completed in the fall.

City-run outdoor pools open for the season on June 27.
