Nearly 140mm of rain confirmed in areas of St. Catharines Monday night

Many residents reported basement and road flooding

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has released rainfall totals for Monday across the region. 

Port Dalhousie saw a total of 138.5mm of rain in a 24-hour period, an area where many residents reported flooded basements and streets. 

Elsewhere, over 80mm was reported in Decew, while Virgil was hit with over 70mm of rain. 

Thunderstorms are in the forecast today as well, however rainfall totals are not expected to be as high.
