A standing-room-only town hall was held in Niagara Falls Monday night, as residents voiced concerns over a proposed new Ferris wheel in Queen Victoria Park.
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates hosted the meeting at Club Italia, where he says nearly 1,000 people signed a letter calling on Premier Doug Ford and the Niagara Parks Commission to withdraw the proposal.
Gates says residents want investment in the area, but believe it should happen without sacrificing greenspace beside Niagara Falls.
He says a local operator has already proposed upgrading the existing Ferris wheel as an alternative.
