Niagara Falls NDP MPP Wayne Gates is calling on the Ford government to release an unpublished study into problem gambling in Ontario.
Gates, the NDP's Shadow Minister for Tourism, Gaming and Sport, says the province is spending more time and money fighting in court to keep the study hidden than it is addressing gambling addiction.
He points to recent research showing underage online gambling has increased tenfold, gambling-related emergency visits have doubled, and gambling-related suicides have tripled since 2022.
Gates says Ontario families deserve to know what's in the publicly funded report, which was reportedly completed in August of 2024.
