Welland’s urban forest is getting a boost with 171 large native trees planted between Lincoln Street and Division Street.
The project is backed by an $80,000 investment, split between the City and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
The new trees will provide more shade, improve air quality, support local wildlife and pollinators, and help the community adapt to climate change.
The project is part of Welland’s plan to expand its tree canopy and create a greener, healthier community.
