The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre kicked off its annual Mitten Tree campaign on Saturday.
Running until Jan. 4, the initiative collects new and gently used winter clothing for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold, as well as Out of the Cold.
There is a particular need for new men’s and women’s socks, along with children’s winter wear.
Residents are encouraged to donate items such as mittens, gloves, toques and scarves by hanging them on the Mitten Tree inside the museum during regular hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
