GO Train service to the Niagara Region is being reduced.
Metrolinx made the announcement earlier this week, stating that just one train will travel to and from the region during weekdays, starting September 8th.
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates, who has been a longtime advocate of all-day service to the region, had this to say.
In a statement, Metrolinx says the changes are to align with ridership demand, as well as crew and equipment availability. During the summer months, three trips were alloted for the Niagara Region.
Gates says if the province wants Niagara Falls to be taken seriously as a destination, there should be more service.
Metrolinx adds that the reduction is temporary, and suggests taking GO Bus Route 12 to the Burlington GO Station.
