Mayor Campion plans to work with Ministry of Health on long-term-care home closure

Residents worried about Welland's long-term care home situation have received assurances from their mayor - they're working on it.

With the Niagara Health's announcement last week about the impending closure of Welland Hospital's long-term care home, Mayor Frank Campion released a statement Friday, saying the city will be working with the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Niagara Health on finding a solution that works best for the community.

The mayor says they'll also work with the Region on considering building a new home, but prefers that it continue at the existing site by the hospital.
