A St. Catharines man is now facing a second-degree murder charge following an assault last fall.
Niagara Regional Police were first called in November 2025 after 54-year-old Jack Legault was seriously injured in an incident near Queenston Street and Eastchester Avenue.
36-year-old Richard Taylor was initially charged with assault causing bodily harm and breaching probation, with the charge later upgraded to aggravated assault.
After Legault died from his injuries in December, the case was taken over by the homicide unit, and Taylor has now been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody.
