Niagara Regional Police have dismantled what they describe as a major drug trafficking ring operating across the region.

Investigators say a months-long probe that began last October led to raids at four properties in Niagara Falls and Thorold, where officers seized cocaine, crystal meth, fentanyl, oxycodone, a loaded handgun and more than 16-thousand dollars in cash.

Police have charged five people, including 35-year-old Kyle Knight of Niagara Falls, who investigators allege led the operation.

A sixth suspect, 33-year-old Matthew Russell of Thorold, remains wanted on drug and firearms charges, and police say anyone who sees him should call 911 and not approach him.
