This week is Living Donation Week, recognizing the Canadians who donate a kidney or part of their liver to help someone in need.

Canadian Blood Services says more than 4,000 Canadians are currently waiting for an organ transplant, and about 250 people die each year while waiting.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about living donation and encourage more people to consider becoming donors.

Canadian Blood Services says living donation can mean shorter wait times and better health outcomes for recipients, while donor safety remains the top priority.

People interested in becoming a living donor can learn more at Canadian Blood Services' website.
