Lasting legacy: Late Welland Fire Chief to be honoured at new fire station

The City of Welland will honour late Captain Craig Bowman by naming Fire Station #3, on Prince Charles Drive, after him.

The city says Captain Bowman dedicated his life to protecting Welland residents and advocating for firefighter health and safety across Canada, helping pass landmark laws like Ontario’s Bill 127 and federal Bill C-24.

Recognized with the King Charles III Coronation Medal, his leadership left a lasting impact on the firefighting community.

Acting Fire Chief Matt Richardson said the tribute ensures Bowman’s courage, sacrifice, and mentorship are remembered each day.
