Niagara Catholic has named its first Chief Education Officer.
CEO Giancarlo Vetrone has appointed Kim Kinney to the new role, effective June 29, following a special information meeting of the board. The position was created under provincial education reforms outlined in Bill 101.
Kinney joined Niagara Catholic in 2020 after a career with the Halton Catholic District School Board and a secondment to the Ministry of Education focused on math curriculum.
Vetrone says her experience and focus on student achievement have helped position the board as a leader in literacy and numeracy.
Kinney says she’s honoured to take on the role and will continue working toward improved and equitable outcomes for all students.
