Grantham Avenue Park in St. Catharines officially took on a new name yesterday, honouring a local political giant.

At a Wednesday morning ceremony, the site was renamed Jim Bradley Park, with Mayor Mat Siscoe, MPP Jennie Stevens, and a representative from MP Chris Bittle’s office in attendance.

Mayor Siscoe explains how Jim Bradley led by example.

City council approved the renaming back in June, but the dedication now doubles as a memorial for Bradley, who passed away only weeks ago.

Mat Siscoe spoke about the importance of remembering Jim Bradley and his lasting impact.

A lifelong resident of the Grantham area, Bradley began his public service in the 1970s as a Grantham Ward councillor before going on to represent St. Catharines at Queen’s Park for over 40 years.
