A trailblazer in Canadian winemaking has died.
Allan Jackson, co-founder of the iconic Jackson-Triggs winery, has passed away, according to a statement from Arterra Wines Canada - the company he helped establish.
Jackson began his journey in the wine industry in 1989 when he and business partner Donald Triggs purchased Ridout Wines, the wine division of Labatt Brewing. They later rebranded it as Vincor International, which would eventually evolve into Arterra Wines.
In 1993, the pair launched Jackson-Triggs, a winery that has since become a cornerstone of Niagara’s wine region and one of Canada’s most recognized labels.
