The Welland Jackfish have started their 2025 IBL Playoffs on the right foot - a 7-0 win over the Kitchener Panthers.
Starting pitcher Teodoro Ortega struck out eight batters over eight scoreless innings, backed up by a two RBI night from Robert Mullen, and multi-hit performances by Greyson Barrett, Brandon Hupe and Brendan Luther.
Game 2 of the best-of-5 series goes Friday night in Kitchener, before the series shifts back to Welland for Game 3 on Saturday night.
