Inquest is mandatory under Ontario’s Coroners Act
An inquest will be held into the death of 26-year-old Tyson Demers.
The Regional Supervising Coroner’s Office says Demers died in hospital on October 25th, 2022, after being transferred from the Niagara Detention Centre.
The inquest is mandatory under Ontario’s Coroners Act and will look at the circumstances surrounding his death.
A jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future.
More details, including the date and location of the inquest, will be released at a later time.
