A joint OPP and Niagara Police investigation has led to the arrests of two people and the shutdown of illegal cannabis storefronts in St. Catharines and Welland.
Police say the investigation uncovered alleged links between the two businesses and people involved in trafficking cannabis and other controlled substances.
A search of the St. Catharines storefront known as 420 Zone turned up cannabis, psilocybin, LSD, DMT and contraband tobacco worth about 32-thousand dollars, along with more than 11-thousand dollars in cash.
Tyrel Russell of Hamilton and Charlie Rodgers of Welland were arrested and charged with several offences, including drug trafficking and possessing cannabis for sale.
A second search at Fun Guyz in Welland seized more than 18-thousand dollars worth of illegal products.
Police later returned to the Welland location after a reported break-in and arrested Russell again, seizing another 19-thousand dollars worth of drugs and tobacco, plus one-thousand dollars in cash.
