Construction is set to begin on a new affordable housing project in downtown St. Catharines.
The St. Catharines Municipal Development Corporation, in partnership with AXE Living, will break ground Monday on a 30-unit rental apartment building at 8 Academy Street.
Mayor Mat Siscoe, St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle and representatives from the City, the Municipal Development Corporation and AXE Living are expected to attend.
The development is the first project led by the St. Catharines Municipal Development Corporation, created to help bring new housing projects to city-owned lands through partnerships with the private sector.
