Grantham Avenue Park in St. Catharines will officially take on a new name today, honouring a local political giant.
At a Wednesday morning ceremony, the site will be renamed Jim Bradley Park, with Mayor Mat Siscoe, MPP Jennie Stevens, and a representative from MP Chris Bittle’s office in attendance.
City council approved the renaming back in June, but the dedication now doubles as a memorial for Bradley, who passed away only weeks ago.
A lifelong resident of the Grantham area, Bradley first served as a Grantham Ward councillor in the 1970s before representing St. Catharines at Queen’s Park for more than four decades.
