GoFundMe set up for family of local motorcycle racer Tyler Seguin

Nearly $40,000 raised so far

A GoFundMe has been set up for a local flat track racer that lost his life over the weekend.

29-year-old Tyler Seguin, a Canadian National Champion and former Welland County Speedway track champion, was involved in a collision with two laps remaining on Saturday night - taking his life and injuring another driver.

Nearly $40,000 has been raised to cover funeral arrangements through an online fundraiser. It marks the first death at Welland County Speedway since 1979.

Niagara Regional Police says Welland Fire, Niagara EMS and St. John's Ambulance all attempted life-saving measures that were unsuccessful. The crash is being investigated.

The track sent out a statement saying the impact of his loss will be felt deeply by everyone who has ever called the track home. Tyler had been part of the Welland County Speedway family since he first took to the dirt at just 4 years old.

Seguin is survived by his partner Jenna and their son Reid.
