The Town of Fort Erie will remove several hazardous trees at the end of Mississauga Avenue and in the Waverly Beach area to protect nearby homes and public safety.
Four mature trees, including two hollow maples and two unstable poplars have been identified as high risk due to rot, restricted root systems, and wind damage.
Three additional trees at Waverly Beach were uprooted, though one will be pruned and preserved.
Officials say the removals aim to balance safety with maintaining the local tree canopy. Wood will be left behind for wildlife habitat, and new growth is expected as more sunlight reaches the forest floor.
