A St. Catharines man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into historical sexual assaults involving two females.
Niagara Regional Police say the incidents allegedly happened several times between 2009 and 2012, when the accused was a cheerleading coach for both victims.
42-year-old Derek Ovenden was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and four counts of sexual exploitation. Police say Ovenden previously coached at local high schools before opening his own gym, Cheer Empire Eagles.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Niagara Regional Police Sexual Assault Unit.
