Premier Doug Ford is defending changes to Ontario’s student financial aid program that will shift more support toward loans instead of grants.
Starting this fall, students will receive a maximum of 25 per cent of OSAP funding as grants.
The move follows a $6.4 billion funding boost to colleges and universities and the end of a seven-year tuition freeze.
Ford said he's also had several calls with students since changes were made - and he spoke to reporters about some of the concerns he has shared with them as they expressed concerns over the changes.
Student groups say the changes will leave many with more debt and could price others out of post-secondary education.
