Public can can access public washrooms, showers and bottled water at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
The City of St. Catharines has declared a significant weather event following major flooding caused by last night’s storm.
The city says nearly 139 millimetres of rain fell, creating flooding issues across the community. Residents dealing with flooding can access public washrooms, showers and bottled water at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, with washrooms also available at several other city facilities.
The aquatics centre pools remain closed, while sports fields, trails, the Garden City Golf Course and some events have been temporarily impacted.
The Port Dalhousie Supper Market has been cancelled, and the Hot Summer Nights event has been moved to August 26.
The city is asking residents to avoid flooded areas, use caution while travelling, and contact their insurance provider if dealing with basement flooding. Crews remain out across St. Catharines responding to the storm impacts.
