Faith Welland Outreach is wrapping up its summer programming, including a free lunch program that served more than 1,200 meals to local children.
The organization says 1,222 lunches were provided over seven weeks, with an average of about 36 children taking part each day.
The program was created to help fill the gap left by school-based food programs during the summer, while the organization’s two Community Houses also offered weekly activities, field trips and youth programs.
Faith Welland Outreach says the summer initiatives were supported by staff, volunteers and sponsors, including Kiwanis, Niagara Regional Housing, the Optimist Club and the Branscombe Family Foundation.
