Niagara is bracing for several days of dangerous heat.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-30s and humidex values nearing 45 through Wednesday or Thursday.

Officials say older adults, young children, people with chronic illnesses and those working outdoors are at the greatest risk.

Residents are urged to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible and check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
