Environment Canada upgrades Niagara snowfall warning to Orange

Environment Canada has upgraded Niagara’s snowfall warning to Orange, with significant snowfall continuing across the region.

Forecasts call for 20 to 30 centimetres of snow, with reduced visibility at times due to heavy snow and local blowing snow. The system is expected to continue through the morning and taper off late this afternoon, as a low-pressure system moves across southern Ontario.

Very cold wind chills are adding to already hazardous conditions, increasing the risk for commuters.

Residents are being advised to allow extra travel time and avoid non-essential trips, as there may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic. A full list of school closures can be found here, while non-school closures are being posted here
