Drug investigation leads to arrest, multiple firearm and trafficking charges in St. Catharines

A major drug investigation in St. Catharines has led to multiple charges after a police operation this week.

Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Street Crime Unit began an investigation in May into suspected drug trafficking in the city.

On May 21st, officers executed a search warrant at a home near Welland Avenue and Geneva Street with help from the Emergency Task Unit, K9, Marine Unit and uniform officers.

36-year-old Jeremy Butterworth of St. Catharines was arrested at the scene.

Police say he is now facing a long list of charges, including firearm offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, cocaine and hydromorphone.
