For the 18th time in 32 regular season wins, the IceDogs worked late, beating Erie 6-5 in overtime Sunday afternoon. The win, in the season finale gives the IceDogs 70 points in their 68 game 2025-2026 season.
Down 1-0 before the game was five minutes old, Riley Patterson's 39th and Ivan Galiyanov's 4th, 1:29 apart gave the home team a 2-1 edge after one.
In a back and forth affair, after the Otters evened the score then Jakub Chromiak fired home his 12th, making it 3-2 IceDogs after two periods.
The final twenty of regulation saw Erie make it 3-3 in the first minute. Eight minutes later, Patterson struck for his 40th to again give Krys Barch's side the lead. This time, the Otters response was a pair of goals. Judd Knauft and his 2nd of the season again drew the IceDogs even at 5. Charlie Robertson stood strong and helped take the game to overtime, with Niagara outshot 36-34.
A wide open overtime was highlighted by 7 shots on goal. The IceDogs fifth was the 25th of the season from Ethan Czata. The play began with a Robertson save, a stretch pass to Patterson, who set-up the winner.
The IceDogs now prepare for the playoffs, with game one Thursday night in Barrie. New Country 89.1 will have all the post-season action beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45.
