IceDogs dominate Wolves during home opener

Rookie Ryan Edgar scored his first in the OHL and added two more for the hat-trick in a 5-1 IceDogs home opener win over Sudbury, Sunday afternoon.

The first rounder from this past spring scored the only first period goal in a period where the Dogs were outshot 11-7. Krys Barch's squad kept the Wolves at bay during a 5 on 3 penalty-kill of 70 seconds.

In the second, the power-play struck twice during a four minute advantage with Sean Doherty and Cole Cooksey notching the markers. Shots favored the home side, 16-9.

A half dozen seconds into period three, Edgar scored his second and completed the "trick" at 10:11. A late power-play goal broke the shut-out of Vladislav Yermolanko with 1:16 left. The IceDogs managed 37 shots, the Wolves reply was 32.

The IceDogs will now begin preparations for a trip to Michigan. Saginaw will be the first opponent, Friday night. New Country 89.1 will have the broadcast beginning at 6:45pm.
