Sunday afternoon at the annual IceDogs Teddy Bear Toss game, thousands of stuffed donations hit the ice at the Meridian Centre but the IceDogs couldn't make it all the way back falling 6-3 to Peterborough.
The Petes scored two late first period goals on the power-play in a 21 second span, the first a 5-3 advantage. Niagara carried an 8-5 shots edge into the break.
In period two, a third from the visitors was offset by the Teddy Bear goal at 3:54. Riley Patterson's 11th was an individual effort steaking down the right side. After the cleanup, Patterson added a second ten minutes later to make the score 3-2. In a period where Krys Barch's team dominated in shots 20-9, the Petes would again extend the lead. In the final few seconds, Kevin He's deflection of a Liam Spencer shot once again brought the Dogs within one.
The third saw the Petes record a power-play and a short-handed tally to make the final 6-3. Niagara outshot Peterborough 37-22.
The IceDogs will make a final trip into Brampton to play the Steelheads Friday night. New Country 89.1 will have the call beginning with the pre-game at 6:45.
