A member of the St. Catharines Fire Services has been honoured as one of the best in the province.
The city's Fire Chief, Dave Upper, was presented last week with the Hicks Morley Fire Chief of the Year award, given annually to fire chiefs in Ontario who show amazing leadership, dedication, and made a lasting impact on the community.
First joining the service as a firefighter in 1991, Upper worked his way up to Deputy Chief in 2017, and has held the role of Fire Chief since 2021.
City of St. Catharines CAO David Oakes said that recognition is well deserved, with Upper's leadership, commitment to service, and focus on teamwork helping to strengthen the city's fire services and the 36 communities they serve.
