Czat-trick Propels IceDogs

Ethan Czata scored three times, including his 22nd of the year, leading the IceDogs to a 6-3 home ice win over Owen Sound. The IceDogs penalty kill not only held the visitors to a 1 for 5 mark but also scored twice short-handed.

A three goal outburst in the first would prove to be the difference. Riley Patterson sniped home his 30th on a sweet cross ice feed from Czata. Hayden Reid hit for his 12th on short handed breakaway and Czata counted one on the power-play. The period was dominated by Krys Barch's side to the tune of a 13-3 shots edge.

After the Attack broke through in the second, Ethan Czata's 2nd of the night restored the three goal advantage. A power-play and even strength goal made it a one goal affair heading to the third. Owen Sound recorded 10 of the 19 shots on goal.

Ivan Galiyanov out-waited the goaltender in close to notch the second "shortie" of the night. Captain Czata found the empty net in the final minute to make it a 6-3 IceDogs victory in a game where the winners outshot the visitors 28-17. Riley Patterson edned the night with a goal and four assists.

It'll be a Family Day Weekend up north for Niagara, heading to North Bay on Sunday and Sudbury on Monday for a pair of Central Division contests. Both games get underway with the New Country 89.1 pre-game show at 1:45.
