10-run eight inning lifts Jackfish to blowout win
Country Night was a good one for the Welland Jackfish, as they turned a nailbiter into a blowout.
The game, presented by Niagara's New Country 89.1, saw the Fish score 10 runs in the 8th inning en route to a 13-1 blowout against the Brantford Red Sox.
The offensive outburst helped Jackfish starting pitcher Ben Abram (2-0), who locked up the win after allowing a run on five hits with five strikeouts over eight innings.
Robert Mullen went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Jonah Weisner, Joshua Marchese, Jake Sanford and Tyson Gomm all drove in a run.
The Jackfish and Red Sox are back at it again tonight in Brantford, with first pitch scheduled for 8:00pm.
