The City of St. Catharines and the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park are planning a controlled burn at the park today.
Fire Services have approved the burn, which is expected to last between four and six hours, depending on weather conditions.
Officials say the burn helps restore native grasses by returning nutrients to the soil and reducing invasive species.
The park will be closed during the burn, and nearby residents are being advised to keep windows and doors closed, as smoke may drift into surrounding areas.
