Nearly 300mm of rain in a week in parts of St. Catharines
After a second round of flooding in St. Catharines in a week, many homeowners and renters alike are working to save what they can from basements and garages.
Director of Government Relations with CAA Insurance Elliott Silverstein says the issue with something like a flood is often times, you don't realize your home isn't ready until it's too late.
When it comes to renters, Silverstein says you're always best to alert your landlord if you notice anything that could lead to flooding like a cracked foundation or eaves that aren't working properly.
He also says something like renter's insurance is important.
St. Catharines alone saw over 140mm of rain in some areas last Monday, and over 155mm of rain over the Civic Holiday long weekend.
