Harvest season is underway in Niagara, and researchers at Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute are reporting promising conditions for this year’s grape crop.
Despite a hot, dry summer, a damp spring and the recent stretch of warm days and cool nights are balancing things out for growers.
In 2023, Ontario’s three key grape-producing regions, Niagara, Prince Edward County, and the Lake Erie North Shore yielded 65,000 tonnes of grapes, according to the Grape Growers of Ontario.
