Birchway Niagara raising awareness for Woman Abuse Prevention Month

November marks Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario, a time to raise awareness and take action against gender-based violence.

The month includes the 16 Days of Activism, from November 25 to December 10.

Since last year, 35 femicides have been reported in Ontario, highlighting the ongoing need for prevention, education, and community support.

Birchway Niagara encourages the public to participate in OAITH’s Wrapped in Courage campaign by wearing a purple scarf to show solidarity with survivors.

Local support is already strong. Birchway’s Allied Against Abuse Daily Raffle has raised over $53,000, enough to fund a safe bed at the shelter for a year.
