A sea of books is about to take over the ice at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls.
The 47th annual Birchway Book Riot runs June 2nd through 7th, turning the rink into one of Canada’s biggest used book sales in support of survivors of gender-based violence in South Niagara.
Most books, games, records and DVDs are priced at just three dollars, with organizers hoping to raise 220 thousand dollars this year to help fund shelter beds for women and children escaping abuse.
Last year’s event raised a record $193,000 for Birchway Niagara services.
