Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara has helped dozens of local kids get ready for the new school year.
The organization hosted its fourth annual BIG Start shopping event Saturday at the Pen Centre, with 58 children and youth receiving 200-dollar gift cards to shop for school essentials alongside a mentor.
More than 200 backpacks were also filled with over 2,400 new school supplies and distributed to children, youth and families supported by the organization.
BBBSN says community support is especially important as the rising cost of living continues to put pressure on local families.
