Niagara Region Public Health is offering a few simple tips to help families get ready for a healthy return to school.
Parents are reminded to make sure kids are brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, and taking advantage of free dental screenings offered through local schools.
Public Health also recommends regular handwashing, keeping sick kids home, and making sure immunizations are up to date.
Families can check and update vaccine records through Immunization Connect, while children and youth should also have regular eye exams, which are covered annually with an Ontario health card.
School nurses and Public Health resources are also available to support students and families throughout the school year.
