Arrest made in connection to month-long St. Catharines cocaine investigation

Niagara police say more than a kilogram of suspected cocaine has been seized following a months-long drug investigation in St. Catharines.

Detectives executed search warrants yesterday at homes on McArthur Lane in Thorold and Willowlanding Court in Welland, seizing more than 1000 grams of suspected cocaine worth about $100,000.

Police also seized more than $48,000 in Canadian cash, along with U.S. currency, including money found in a suspect vehicle.

Thirty-year-old Ismail Ahmed of Mississauga faces multiple drug trafficking and proceeds-of-crime charges and remains in custody ahead of a bail hearing today.
